National Poll Worker Recruitment Day

Jan 24, 2022

(Cleveland) – The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections is promoting National Poll Worker Recruitment Day (NPWRD) on January 25th. NPWRD was first established in 2020 by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission as a day of action with the goal of encouraging potential poll workers to sign up to assist voters on election day.

By encouraging people to become poll workers in their communities, the Board of Elections, in celebrating NPWRD, aims to inspire civic engagement, strengthen our democracy, and to ensure that elections are free and fair. Dedicated poll workers are crucial to a successful election day, providing their time and talents as civic minded voters who help others participate in the democratic process.

For the upcoming May 3, 2022 Primary Election the Board of Elections will be hiring nearly 4,000 poll workers. With this, the Board of Elections will be actively recruiting for election day positions and invites all Cuyahoga County residents to apply. To become a poll worker, a person must at least be 17 years of age, live in and be a registered voter in Cuyahoga County, and never have been convicted of a felony.

Some professions even offer continuing education credits for training and serving as a poll worker, including attorneys and social workers.
